We spoke with director Laura García Alonso about "Corredora," the film that opens in theaters today, and about some of the themes the story explores: mental health, fear, psychosis, support, learning to surrender, and the obsession with reaching the finish line. In this interview, she reflects on Cris, the heroic act at the end, the pressure to win, the value of knowing how to lose, and the idea that runs through the film: "If you obsess over the result, you don't enjoy the process." She also discusses one of the most overlooked aspects of mental health: psychosis, the distortion of reality, and the fear it often generates in those around the person experiencing it. "Psychosis is the great taboo to break," she explains.
