Donne di Trastevere 1982 ( Idarella e le altre ) M. Gandin

An exceptional and rare find; an interview with the Women of Trastevere, filmed inside the Olindo restaurant on Vicolo della Scala in 1982 by Michele Gandin, a great documentary filmmaker of the 1950s and 1960s. He had already experimented with the photographs of Carlo Bavagnoli, author of the photography book "Women of Trastevere," making a documentary commenting on the aforementioned photos. Here, however, we find ourselves faced with stories that range from before the war to reconstruction, from the twenty-year period and the Germans to the hunger and poverty that the neighborhood was synonymous with until the economic boom years. Idarella offers anecdotes and dialogues full of detail, nostalgia, but also history and customs... a must-see.
