Celebrity Millennium Cruise Visiting Nara Deer Park, Temple & Shrine from The Best of Japan Cruise

The third day of our "Best of Japan" cruise aboard the Celebrity Millennium took us to Nara Park with the famous bowing deer. The previous day we were at Osaka Castle and you can watch that video here:    • Celebrity Millennium Cruise visiting OSAKA...   This was a half day tour which means we were picked up at 09.00 from the ship and dropped back by 15.00. Our first stop was the Todai-ji Temple that houses the largest Buddha in the World in the largest wooden structure, it was the second largest wooden building when they built the World Expo Ring at Osaka but that is now being dismantled so it will return to number one. Through respect I only photographed the inside of the Temple, it's very impressive and in hindsight I would put it up there in the top five places we visited in Japan over the five weeks of our UPTIME Journey around Japan. If you like semi-tame Deer then this tour is for you, they are conditioned by being close to humans all the time, and then they sell cookies in the park for you to feed the Deer by hand. After the Temple we took another short bus ride to the Kasugataisha Shrine which was very peaceful even with the crowds, I grew to prefer the shrines and their unique calming atmosphere. Our last stop (which is not shown here) was the centre of Nara were we had a free hour to get some lunch, very touristy and commercial, I bet it's packed in the summer season.
