Il sogno degli operai ex GKN: "Riprendersi la fabbrica per produrre biciclette e pannelli"

The former GKN factory received a financial fund and closed down. From 420 workers, after nearly three years of struggle, today there are 150 workers holding out. Without a salary, it's tough, often impossible, and many quit to at least receive NASPI (National Employment Benefit System). Today, the workers dream of taking back the factory premises and transforming them into an eco-friendly alternative. They have everything ready: six million euros on the table, a bill drafted in collaboration with the Università Normale di Pisa, and their steely will. The workers, however, complain: "Those who should be accountable, namely the Tuscany Region, are silent. Politicians are watching but not responding. Not a single councilor, neither from the majority nor the opposition, has decided to take on this law. We would set a winning precedent, but one that is clearly too social, too beautiful."
