2011 Ralph B. Peck Lecture: Antonio Bobet: Seismic Design of Underground Structures
The 2011 Ralph B Peck Lecture was delivered at Geotechnical Frontiers 2011 in Dallas, TX in March 2011. The 2011 Peck Lecturer was Antonio Bobet of Purdue University. His lecture title was "Seismic Design of Underground Structures: Lessons from the Failure of the Daikai Station." The Peck Award was established in 1999 by the Geo-Institute of the Society in honor of Ralph B. Peck, Dist.M.ASCE. Funds to support this award were donated by the Geoprofessional Business Association (GBA, formerly ASFE). The award is presented for outstanding contributions to the geotechnical engineering profession through the publication of a thoughtful, carefully researched case history or histories, or the publication of recommended practices or design methodologies based on the evaluation of case histories.
