This vlog is the 5th film about our 2 day journey on its own to Ayutthaya Thailand from Bangkok. Much of Ayutthaya is located within the island formed by three rivers: Chao Phraya, Pa Sak and Lopburi. The size of the island is 2.5 to 4.5 km. On the island, 50 more channels were dug, for which the city received the nickname “East Venice”. During its heyday in Ayutthaya there were three royal palaces, 375 temples, 29 fortified forts, the number of city gates was 94. More than a million people lived in the city. The Burmese invaded Ayutthaya in 1767 and almost completely burned the city. Today, only a few ruins give an idea of ​​the city. A boat tour around the historic island provides the most favorable way to see some of the most famous temples of Ayutthaya. You can also watch the daily life of the locals. Wooden houses on stilts by the river in Ayutthaya are traditionally built on stilts due to frequent flooding in the area. Pom Phet or Diamond Fortress was one of the sixteen fortresses along the city walls of Ayutthaya, which were built to protect Ayutthaya from the invasion of foreigners. Another historic monument on the banks of Chao Phraya is the church of St. Joseph, a Catholic church built by the French in the 17th century. ★ WAT PHANAM CHOENG Entrance fee - 20THB The legend says. Her heart was broken. She waited for a long time, but the king never appeared. And she killed herself. The king was very upset and he built a temple on the site of her cremation so that her soul would find peace, and he called the temple Wat Choeng Tha In Wat Phanan is the largest and oldest in Ayuttay Buddha statue, made of brick and mortar. It is known from the chronicles that when the Burmese seized Ayutthaya, tears flowed from the Buddha’s eyes. This temple is very revered by the Thais and they do not miss the opportunity to worship the image of the Buddha and receive a prediction. No photos will convey the impression of the size of this Buddha image. The statue is 14 meters wide from the knee to the knee and 19 meters high with the decoration on the head. ★ WAT PUTTAISAWAN the entrance is free Wat Phuttai Sawan, perhaps one of the oldest monasteries built by the rulers of Ayutthay The temple was built in the 14th century by King Ramathibodi I, the founder of Ayutthaya, at the place where he lived before the establishment of the capital on the island. The temple is located on the outer bank of the Chao Phraya River and is oriented perpendicular to the river. One of the legends says that Buddhist monks predicted the destruction of Ayutthaya at the end of the Buddhist millennium, if not enough accumulated merit, so King Prasat Thong launched a massive campaign to build and renovate temples throughout the city. Regardless of the reason, the return of Khmer-style Prang marked a new era of architecture in Ayutthaya Along the gallery were 120 gold-plated statues of Buddhas in honor of the Victory over Mara,   It was a temple where the king and his descendants performed religious rites and as a place for cremation of princes, princesses and other members of the royal family. In 1767 Ayutthaya, the capital of Thailand, was captured by Burmese troops, and the temple became an army camp. After the fall of Ayutthaya Wat Chai, Wat Thanaram was abandoned. Although the temple was damaged during the looting of the city in 1767, it remains one of the best preserved monuments of Ayutthaya’s glory. This is the only temple in Ayutthaya with night illumination. A boat tour around Ayutthaya takes about 2 hours with stops of 20-30 minutes in 3 temples. We paid 70 THB for entrance tickets to the temples, and the cost of the tour as a part of a small group was 250TNV / person, including transfers from the hotel to the pier and back.
