¿Qué es la Degeneración Macular Asociada a la Edad? Síntomas, causas y tratamiento

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a disease that typically begins to show symptoms around age 60, causing central vision loss, which makes it more difficult to read, recognize faces, and causes straight lines to appear distorted. Dr. David Antolín, Head of the Ophthalmology Department at La Milagrosa Hospital in Madrid, explained on Telemadrid's "Buenos Días Madrid" program that risk factors, in addition to age, include smoking and high blood pressure. Treatments include intraocular injections with vascular growth antagonists, photodynamic therapy, and laser therapy.
