Marina Samoilă: M-am îndrăgostit de vin după ce am văzut un documentar

There are people who don't just talk about wine, but manage to talk, through wine, about people, about places and about the way we live. Marina Sămoilă is one of them. She was born in Pietroasele, in Dealul Mare, and grew up among vineyards, in a place where wine was part of everyday life, not a sophisticated ritual. Perhaps that is precisely why, in this edition of the show La cină, we discovered that, before being a drink, wine is a story. We talked about childhood meals, about grandparents and great-grandparents, about the path that took her from the Faculty of Horticulture to one of the most respected voices in the world of Romanian wine and about the years in which she chose to study without stopping to get to where she is today. We tried to understand what it actually means to taste a wine, how to choose a good bottle without being fooled by the label or price, and what are the mistakes we make most often when drinking it. We also discussed today's wine-growing Romania, the varieties that represent us, how close we are to becoming a truly important name on the map of the world's great wines, and how much we still lack education in this field. But the conversation wasn't just about wine. It was also about entrepreneurship, partnerships that endure even when personal relationships change, the challenges of a woman in an industry long dominated by men, and the lessons that thousands of glasses and thousands of meetings with different people can offer. In the end, we tried to formulate together a few simple rules that could help us all enjoy a glass of wine more. Because, in the end, good wine is not just the most expensive or the most awarded, but the one that manages to bring people together around the same table.
