Le Terre Sicane devono ai Fenici ed ai Greci la propria vocazione viticola. Questi popoli hanno lasciato testimonianze del loro passaggio nei vitigni che ancora oggi si coltivano a Menfi, come il Perricone. The Terre Sicane area has been inhabited by Phoenicians and Greeks, who have left here their amazing cultural richness and experience in viticulture. Some grape varieties, like the Perricone, date back to VIII century BC.
