Indian classical sensations Kaushiki Chakraborty and Mahesh Kale entertained the music lovers with their marvellous acts during the event. First time ever – two classical performers from different musical gharanas came together to perform at this event. The duo’s beautiful musical chemistry reflected in their jugalbandi on Kanada Raja Pandharicha which took the crowd to a different musical journey and gave a shining end to the evening. Sur Jyotsna Awards is an effort to appreciate and award the emerging talent from the music world who have a special streak in their music – that of connecting hearts. It’s also an endeavour to pass on the tradition of rich music of India to the younger generation. Instituted by the Lokmat Media Group in memory of Late Smt. Jyotsna Darda, SJNMA’s mission is to identify and recognise talent in Music across India. Its main aim is to provide a national platform for aspiring but talented singers and classical musician across India, who show immense talent and potential to make a mark in the music world in the near future. Winners are decided depending upon their talent; capacity and willingness to learn and also their ability to make it big in their chosen field from both classical and semi-classical, vocal and instrumental.
