The Kwak'waka'wakw Dancers from Alert Bay
The Kwakwaka'wakw Dancers hail from Alert Bay, B.C. on Cormorant Island off the northern tip of Vancouver Island. They are Nuu Chah Nulth people and their nation is called Namgis. The Namgis are determined that their culture survive and, to that end, have taught these dances to their youth. The dances involve both young and old. They performed at Shq'apthut (A Gathering Place) at Vancouver Island University in February of 2015.
