African cashew processing

Africa as the world's second largest producer of cashew nuts has a great potential to supply the increasing demand. Cashews of African origin become a major player gaining in market share of edible nuts in the future. ACi collaborates with several major food companies as part of its multi-stakeholder approach. International buyers increasingly focus on cashew from African origin due to its high quality and long-term business relationships with processors. The African Cashew initiative (ACi) constitutes a new era of multi-stakeholder partnership in development cooperation. The initiative is jointly funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), as well as several private and public entities. With GIZ in the lead, Fairmatch Support (FMS) and TechnoServe (TNS) are implementing and following the project activities.
