Newsreel footage from this grand final. Match report: This final brought a changing of the guard for football supremacy in this state and ushered in a new dynasty under Jack Oatey at Unley Oval. The game was in the balance at ¾ time with Sturt holding a 17 point lead, but they booted away early in the final term to win by 56 points, their first flag since 1940. Former Hawthorn premiership player Malcolm Hill was outstanding in the ruck and ME Jones unstoppable with 8 goals. Trevor Obst was Port's best in the back pocket.
