After more than a month of road-tripping and adventure across China, we finally arrived in Chengdu, one of the country's most iconic cities 🇨🇳 And this time, our trip took a completely different turn as we stayed for a few days with a Chinese friend of Matthias's who lives here, right in the heart of Sichuan. In this video, we discover a whole new side of China: daily life, local customs, and Chinese culture seen from the inside, far from hotels and typical tourist spots. Thanks to her, we explore Chengdu like true locals. On the agenda: discovering the bustling streets of Chengdu, immersing ourselves in Sichuan culture, tasting absolutely incredible traditional Chinese dishes, local street food, spicy specialties, traditional restaurants, markets, the nightlife, and simple yet authentic moments. We also visited the famous Chengdu Giant Panda Sanctuary 🐼 A moment we had been looking forward to for a long time during this trip to China. Seeing pandas in their natural habitat, observing their behavior, and discovering this conservation center was a truly unique experience. This stop in Chengdu also allowed us to slow down a bit after weeks of driving across China in our campervan. We took advantage of this time to catch up on several everyday things, including ordering new chairs and planning the next leg of our Asian adventure.
