How to Insulate a shop floor! 20x30 Workshop with Ridged Foam Board
Insulating a shop floor can save big on heating and cooling costs. It is estimated that you lose 10-15% of the energy from the floor. I am insulating my shop floor with 1" ridged foam board rated at R-5. I use a jig saw to cut the foam and then use caulk to fill any gaps that might be between he joists and the foam. This step takes a lot of work but is well worth it in the long run.
