MENDOZA WINE TOUR at Bodegas López 🍇 Family Vineyards, Wine Tasting, Steak & Argentine Hospitality 🍷

In today's video, we're going wine tasting in Mendoza! No trip to Argentina would have been complete without a detour to wine country, so, for our final week, we embarked on a vineyard hopping adventure. The first winery we visited was Bodegas Lopez, an established name in Mendoza’s winemaking scene and we ended up having a lot of fun! We arrived at Bodegas Lopez at 10:00 am where we kicked off our full-day winery tour with breakfast - because you’ve got to get some food in your belly before you go wine tasting! They had set up a hearty Argentine breakfast featuring homemade bread, medialunas, pastries, jamón crudo, butter, berry jams, orange juice, tea and coffee. We enjoyed a leisurely breakfast and then when we couldn’t stuff ourselves with any more bread, we went downstairs and met up with our guide for the day, Nicolás. During our guided tour of Bodegas López we visited the augers and milling machines, fermentation tanks, pneumatic presses, ageing areas and bottle storage area. We got to see some massive barrels - the largest of which held 57,600 litres of wine! Next up, we walked a couple of blocks over to the champañera, where they specialize in sparkling wines. They need to produce this wine in a separate facility because the process is quite different and involves adding both sugar and yeast, something that cannot be done to their other wines. The cool thing about touring the champañera is that we got to see the only part of the bodega that still has vineyards on-site, since what was once countryside has developed into a city, so that means that the vineyards are a lot further out. We had lunch at Rincón de López, the bodega’s on-site restaurant that features an ever-changing menu paired with their very own wines. We had beef empanadas paired with López Sauvignon Blanc, Ribeye steak with Casona López Malbec, and passionfruit cheesecake with Montchenot Extra Brut. It was a feast! After lunch, we went down to the cellar to begin the wine tasting. We sampled a total of 4 wines including Rosé Montchenot, Casona Lopez Cabernet, Montchenot 2009, and Dulce Natural. And that pretty sums up our day at Bodegas Lopez! We left feeling merry that afternoon and I pretty much napped in the taxi all the way back to the city. I couldn’t have asked for a better start to our week of wine tasting in Mendoza. 🍇 Mendoza Wine Tour at Bodegas López: Family Vineyards, Wine Tasting, Steak & Argentine Hospitality 🍷 🌄 Arrival in Mendoza: Land of Wine Good morning from Mendoza, Argentina! In this video, we kick off our first full day in the heart of Argentine wine country by visiting the legendary Bodegas López. Founded in 1898, this family-run winery is now in its fourth generation—a must-visit for any wine enthusiast exploring Maipú, Mendoza. 🥐 Breakfast with a View | 🏞️ We start our day with a hearty breakfast overlooking the Andes: homemade breads, croissants (mini facturas), butter, pastries, fresh orange juice, tea, and coffee. The setting is picture-perfect, surrounded by vineyards and mountain views, and the anticipation for the wine experience ahead is real! 🏛️ Winery History & Legacy | 🍾 We learn about the rich legacy of Bodegas López, tracing its roots back over a century. The video features a walk-through of the family history, how the winery has evolved, and the key role it’s played in Argentine winemaking. Fun fact: their vineyards and production processes blend tradition with innovation, all under the guidance of the Lopez family. 🍾 Visiting the Champañera | ✈️ Next, we tour the “Champañera,” where sparkling wines are crafted. The team explains the traditional process behind their signature bubbly, and we explore vineyards adjacent to the facility. A quick drone flight showcases breathtaking shots of the estate from above—don’t miss the stunning aerial views! 🍽️ Gourmet Lunch: Wine Pairings & Argentine Classics | 🍷 After the tour, it’s time for an unforgettable lunch. The set menu is expertly paired with red wine, white wine, and champagne—before the official wine tasting even begins! Starter: Hot empanadas, fresh from the oven, filled with spiced ground beef and onions. Main: A massive, perfectly grilled Argentine steak, thick and juicy, served alongside fresh bread and sides. Wines: We sample a spectrum of Bodegas López labels, from crisp whites to robust, velvety Malbecs. 🍷 Underground Wine Tasting in the GABA | 🕯️ The adventure continues in the GABA, an underground brick labyrinth filled with wine barrels—think medieval cellar meets Mendoza. It’s the perfect setting for an extended wine tasting session. The guide explains differences in varietals, aging, natural sugars, and unique tasting notes for each wine.
