EXPOSING a Major Myth in Christianity | "Jesus Talked About Hell More Than Heaven"
Did Jesus really talk more about hell than heaven? It's one of the most repeated claims in Christianity... and nobody ever actually checks. ⬇️ Support the channel: https://ko-fi.com/zacknusser You've probably heard it said with total confidence from pulpits, books, and some of the most influential Christian teachers alive. D.A. Carson said it in the 1970s. Leon Morris repeated it in Christianity Today. John MacArthur, Mark Driscoll, Robert Jeffress, and others have all claimed it at one point or another. And because these are serious, respected voices, the claim spread until it stopped feeling like something that needed to be checked. But what happens when you actually open the gospels and count? In this video we trace exactly where this claim came from and why it spread so far without anyone checking the math. We look at the original Greek words Jesus actually used — Gehenna and Hades — and what those words meant to the first century Jewish audience he was speaking to. We examine how these distinct concepts, along with Sheol, Tartarus, and various fire and judgment images, were collapsed into a single English word through centuries of translation decisions shaped heavily by Augustine and later theologians. We ask whether the modern doctrine of eternal conscious torment is something Jesus ever explicitly taught — and what the New Testament actually says when you read it in its original context. Then we count. Using the same standard on both sides — the same way on the hell side as on the kingdom of God and kingdom of heaven side. And the results are not what most people expect. But more than the numbers, what we found raises a deeper question: did Jesus talk about hell the way modern Christianity thinks he did at all? Or has 2,000 years of theological tradition, mistranslation, and inherited assumption buried something far more beautiful than most of us were ever taught? The answer changes everything about what the good news actually is. This channel exists to help revive the original Way that Jesus taught — the living, transformative, kingdom-centered gospel that has been buried under nearly 2,000 years of theological baggage, institutional religion, mistranslation, and inherited assumption. We explore the Kingdom of God, Christian universalism and universal salvation, the biblical case for apokatastasis, deconstruction and reconstruction of faith, the restoration of original Christianity and the Way as Jesus taught it, Bible translation problems, and the bad doctrine and theology that has kept so many people from experiencing the unconditional love of God. Our purpose is simple: to help people encounter the real Jesus, understand the real gospel, and step into the Kingdom of God right now — not as a destination after death, but as a present reality that transforms everything. Because when people truly understand that God is love — not primarily a judge, not an angry deity requiring appeasement, but unconditional, inexhaustible love — everything changes. And as more people step into that reality, we believe it begins to usher in the Kingdom of God and the New Earth that scripture promises. If you've ever felt like something was missing in what you were taught — or like the Jesus you read about in the gospels doesn't quite match the one you heard about in church — you're in the right place. 🔔 Subscribe to stay connected as we work together to revive the original Way. #KingdomOfGod #WhatJesusTaught #RevivingTheWay #RethinkingHell #bibletranslation 📱 Follow to engage with me on socials: TikTok: / zacknusser Instagram: / zacknusser X: https://x.com/zacknusser Facebook: / zack-nusser-61578072818565
