Como reparar una plancha Oster que escurre agua y no regula la temperatura
💧 In this video, we're going to review an Oster iron that arrived at the workshop with two main problems: it started leaking water and it also burns clothes when used. The owner mentioned that sometimes it overheats and other times it doesn't heat up at all. Join me step by step to discover what's happening and how to properly repair it. The first step is to plug it in and check its operation. The iron does heat up, but it does so unevenly, which confirms that the problem lies in the temperature control system. Upon inspecting the structure, we noticed that the circuit board is loose and that water is leaking through a broken internal part. This explains both the leak and the unstable heating. We proceed to disassemble the iron, removing visible and hidden screws, as well as the clips that hold the cord and the cover in place. During disassembly, we found an accumulation of lint and dirt, so we performed a thorough cleaning. Upon inspecting the water tank, we identified the broken part that is causing the leak. This part is the temperature regulator and must be repaired for the iron to function correctly. To reinforce the part, we used copper wire and silicone, ensuring it was secure and wouldn't come loose again. We also applied electrical tape for added strength. Meanwhile, we checked the thermostat by listening for the characteristic "click" that indicates it was opening and closing the circuit properly. This confirmed that the thermostat was in good condition and not the cause of the overheating. Once the part was reinforced, we began reassembling the iron. We placed the temperature selector in the correct position, secured the wires, and tightened the screws on the cover. Upon testing it again, we verified that it turned on and off correctly, meaning the temperature control system was now working properly. The final step was to repair the surface of the soleplate. Due to wear on the Teflon coating, the iron had started sticking to clothes and causing burns. To fix this, we used fine-grit sandpaper with water to remove the burnt areas and smooth the surface. Although Teflon wears down over time, this maintenance extends the iron's lifespan and prevents it from damaging clothes again. In conclusion, this Oster iron regains its functionality thanks to the repair of the temperature regulator, the reinforcement of internal parts, and the maintenance of the soleplate. This case demonstrates that many appliance malfunctions are due to loose, broken, or improperly adjusted parts, and that with a correct diagnosis and careful work, the appliance can be restored to working order without needing to be replaced.
