Important to note: Brihaspati is a deity, often linked with Jupiter, the planet. He's seen as a spiritual guide for the gods, and is related to devotion, prayer, and spirituality. On the other hand, Charvaka philosophy is a school of thought in ancient India that promotes materialism, and skepticism towards the existence of gods and the afterlife, and criticises Vedic culture and rituals. So, it does not make sense to link Brihaspati, a spiritual and respected deity, with the creation of Charvaka philosophy, a viewpoint that is essentially non-spiritual and skeptical of godly matters. So, the name Brihaspati in “Brahaspati Sutra” (a text that is known through references by other philosophers), is symbolic or honorific rather than historical. Many works in ancient Indian literature are attributed to mythical or legendary figures. Manuwadis, who often tried to portray Charvakas as hedonists who advocated a life of unbridled pleasure, ignoring moral obligations, tend to associate the Charvaka philosophy with their sages/ Vedic background, whenever this school of thought gains some recognition or acceptance.
