BBS BATTLE | REX AMBASSADOR VS REX KONSUL | ROUND 1 | MID-AGGRESSIVE BLADES

Grab a glass for Round 1 of 2 Medium Sharp Blade Test - Rex Konsul | Rex Ambassador With the MAJOR reduction in Blade Exposure, I wanted to test both the REX Konsul and Rex Ambassador side by side and see how they stacked up. NEITHER DISAPPOINTED. Both Razors were buttery smooth, and felt solid in the hand. I noticed on the Konsuls ATG pass I even needed to add a bit of pressure behind it just to get the Derbys to cut super close - which I didn't mind in the slightest as a head shaver. Unfortunately, the Konsul (and with little surprise here) wa's NOT as close of a shaver as the Rex Ambassador MAXED at 6.5, and I was able to actually get a little bit of additional stubble to come off by running the Ambassador over the already shaved area. Blades are going to make a huge difference in the Rex Konsul slant, and where the Rex Ambassador shines for me using a mid-aggressive blade like the Derby Blacks - the Konsul needs the extra bump with something like a Wizamet or Personna Med Prep to really blossom. The trade off I can see with the Konsul is while it may not be a 18 hour BBS (it's more like 15 with the Derby Blacks for me in honesty) it is darn near effortless, and does not require any thought to use. Statistically, I think MORE people will reach for the Konsul and find it more enjoyable to use as a daily driver. Round 2 will be these two beautiful razors with some SHARP blades loaded and I think we will REALLY see the Konsul swing back.
