I Built a Wooden Ship Model From a FREE Ship Plan

What if you could build an incredible wooden ship model without spending hundreds of dollars on an expensive kit? In today’s video, I’m tackling my very first scratch build: a small 250-ton Dutch Motor Coaster (Beurtvaarder), built completely from a free ship plan! No fancy kit, no pre-cut parts—just raw materials, simple tools, and a lot of learning along the way. From scaling errors and "bread and butter" hull carving to experimental tin-foil portholes, this project was a massive learning experience. We also dive into the fascinating history of these family-run "Groningen Coasters" that served as the delivery trucks of the North Sea.
