Stuck in PARK? Dead Cluster? No COMM? (Cadillac SRX)

This local shop told the customer that his 2016 Cadillac SRX had a bad battery. Customer replaced the battery himself, and then the car shows back up at the shop on a TOW TRUCK! Apparently it starts and runs, but can't shift out of park, and nothing works inside...DEAD cluster, HVAC, and even my scanner bluetooth dongle won't power up.
