The judge declared the search, arrest, and detention by the Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) invalid. The Jakarta District Court's sole judge ruled that the coercive measures taken by Polda Metro Jaya investigators at Roy Suryo's home on June 19, 2026, violated the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP). According to the judge, the search of Roy Suryo's home was proven to have been conducted without official permission from the Chief Justice of the local District Court. However, this pretrial ruling does not invalidate Roy Suryo's legal status as a suspect in the alleged slander case involving the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo. Responding to this ruling, Roy Suryo expressed his appreciation for the judge's objectivity. Meanwhile, Roy Suryo will continue to prepare for the second pretrial hearing, scheduled for this Friday, specifically to test the validity of the suspect status determination under the ITE Law. This second pretrial motion is still being pursued because the first pretrial ruling only overturned the arrest, detention, and house search, but did not remove his legal status as a suspect.
