One of the best ways to fix it is by using a plastic welding kit to patch it up. I busted up my hull pretty good by running over an oyster bar a few weeks ago and have been using a marine patch to keep it sealed since then. However, these only last about one trip and they can get pretty expensive if you have to put a new one on each time you go out. So I tried out this plastic welding kit and it worked much better, plus it was cheaper than all of the marine patches I'd been getting!
