Alert vs Shock vs Mode: I'm Not Seeing What Everyone Else Is?

On paper, the Alert is very much in Venom Shock and IQ Tour territory, and that's what most other reviewers are seeing . . but mine is a lot more dynamic, it's not the early and smooth tour style control ball, it acts a lot more like the Stealth Mode for me . . so what's the story?
