One evening, as I went out to feed stray cats, I met a beautiful little tortoiseshell kitty. She showed no fear at all, running straight to me and following quietly at a gentle distance. She stayed by my side for more than two kilometers, even crossing busy streets. I worried deeply for her safety and wanted to take her to the feeding area in my neighborhood. Yet I hesitated—I already had several rescued cats at home and wasn’t sure I could give her the full attention she deserved. The next day, I called her at the place we first met, and she appeared at once. I led her back to my community, and she followed me all the way to my building, even slipping inside the hallway. To my greatest surprise, the following morning, she climbed up to my second‑floor windowsill, squeezed through the protective net, and jumped right inside my home—as if she had always known this was where she belonged. I had worried about how she would fit in with my other cats, but she was so gentle and brave, quietly making her way into my heart. From a chance meeting on the street to choosing me as her person, this sweet tortoiseshell showed me the purest kind of trust. Sometimes, it’s not us who choose the cat… it’s the cat who chooses us.
