A few truths about becoming a physio nobody ever tells you
Hi everyone my name is Masud. Welcome back to the channel. In today’s video I’ll be discussing a few very little know truths that nobody tells you about becoming a physio. 1. Your education is not when you start your degree/training for physio. It begins actually the day you qualify because then you are on your own and have to take full responsibility for your decisions. You can get away with some things when you’re a student but when you qualify it’s on you to make sure you’re safe and sound. Physio is an ever learning profession and you never stop learning as a physiotherapist as the profession is always changing and new evidence is always coming out you develop your skills to adapt. 2. My next point is a little contradictive but will make sense when you’ve been through the pathway. The physio training/degree is the hardest thing you will have to do in your physio career. The reason I say that is because the course is packed with so much learning and assessments alongside real placements in such a short amount of time that you really don’t have time to think sometimes and the aim is really just to pass. But at the end of it, you get a chance to just focus on practicing physio without so much pressure to pass assignments. This allows you to really take your time and develop your skills in practice. 3. In regards to physio practice. Very simply I can remember one of my lecturers saying to me at uni, ‘Masud, physio is very simple but we love to make it complex’... ‘ just remember; if something is tight - stretch it, if something is weak - strengthen it and if something is painful use some ice/heat’ .. alright you got me the last one I made up but it makes sense. If it doesn’t, it will when you’re out on practice. BONUS TRUTH Grades do not matter. Just focus on passing the degree and you’ll be OK. Thanks for watching.
