How funny this country is. For us, this is a true comedy. A documentary we worked on in 2014. A documentary about the old oil wells in Wonocolo, East Java. Synopsis: Wonocolo has a long history of oil mining scattered throughout the area. Wonocolo's oil wealth attracted the attention of the Dutch in ancient times, who opened hundreds of oil mines. Now, management of the old Dutch wells has been handed over to the local community. Based on the Regulation of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Indonesia, no public or private sector is permitted to drill new wells. Instead of maintaining the old wells, irresponsible parties are "defying" the law by mining for oil at new locations. This illegal activity has been going on for quite some time. Who is really behind the refinery?
