Brooks & Dunn's FULL interview with Kelly Ford!
Follow us on: Instagram - @NYCountry947 Facebook - New York's Country 94.7 Brooks & Dunn dropped by the RADIO.COM Theater this week to hang with Kelly Ford in the Morning on New York's Country 94.7. The guys were in town quite a bit this week -- you might have seen them with Midland on Jimmy Fallon performing "Boot Scootin' Boogie." Their new album, Reboot, is made up of their previously released hits, this time re-worked to feature some of today's biggest country stars. "Boot Scootin' Boogie" features Midland, but also appearing on the album are Kacey Musgraves, Luke Combs, Kane Brown, Brett Young, Thomas Rhett, Brothers Osborne and more. "We had a lot of fun doing this," said Kix Brooks. He went on, "There's a lot of pressure when you're making records trying to keep a career going. We never dreamed we'd be cutting these songs that, God bless the world, were already hits, so we didn't have that kind of pressure... it was just hanging out with some really talented artists and doing them again." Ronnie tells us about how he sent a text to George Strait after he noticed their album was #1 and George's was "somewhere down on the lower right." The guys went on to discuss how cool it is that after 30 years, they're still relevant in country music. Kix goes on to explain some of their crazy on-stage antics and how even after all that, "the fact that they're talking about the music is what makes us feel good." By now, we've all heard the story and controversy surrounding Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" song. When asked, Kix answered in a very matter-of-fact fashion and said, "It's just a song. I don't think he's a country artist." He went on to explain, "but if fans like it, they like it. I don't know what else to say about it." Finally, the guys talk about some of the cool and let's just say interesting NYC experiences they've had such as playing on the Madison Square Garden marquee, ringing the stock market bell, and more. Kix even walked us through his experiences with taking the subway and navigating the big city, which could be hilariously summed up in one word... "GOLLY!"
