Longsword Techniques, Lesson1: Zornhau-Ort
Demonstration and Explanation of the first advanced technique of Liechtenauer's Kunst des Fechtens. Zornhau-Ort is both an Offensive (Vor) and Defensive (Nach) move. It's a great opening to the study of this art. Use common sense in practice, always keeping safety in mind. The techniques of this art, the Five Strikes etc., assume an understanding of much of the basics of the style. To get the most out of technical practice, you should first lay a foundation of simple movements and concepts. According to MS 3227a, the foundation includes such things as stances, footwork, and simple attacks, but also includes such concepts as Weak and Strong, Hard and Soft, Vorschlag and Nachschlag. If you would like demonstrations of foundational principles, let us know in the comments. We hope you find this video helpful. Comments and alternate ideas are welcome. Let's share our opinions humbly and learn more together. To see the manuscript and translation we are working from, check out the Wiktenauer: http://wiktenauer.com/wiki/Codex_D%C3...) Thanks!
