Sketching loose en plein air in Northumberland

Scribbles landscape art sketching northumberland Most people think drawing is about making the right mark first time. But that’s not really how it works for me. When I sketch, I make lots of searching lines — scribbles, loose marks, lines that miss the target completely. But somewhere in that chaos, one or two marks suddenly feel right. And somehow your brain remembers them. This video is about that strange process: how messy sketching becomes a way of searching, editing and discovering form rather than simply copying what’s in front of you. I head out into the Northumberland countryside with my sketchbook and talk about why “wrong” lines might actually be an important part of painting and drawing. Sometimes the drawing is hiding inside the scribbles. 🎨 Original paintings & prints: Northumberland Art 📺 More painting videos: YouTube Channel @northumberlandart #drawing #sketchbook #painting #artprocess #watercolour #landscapeart #pleinair #artistlife #northumberland #creativeprocess
