Mountain Flying: 15% Slope, 200-Meter One-Way Landing | Austria's Mountain Pilots Fly-In

Mountain Flying in Austria | 200-Meter One-Way Grass Strip, 15% Uphill Landing, Taildragger Fly-In A 200-meter one-way grass strip with a 15% upslope, shifting winds, thermals and strong crosswinds: we fly our 71-year-old Cessna 170 from Innsbruck LOWI to the Austrian Mountain Pilots Fly-In at Fish Creek near Fischbach in Styria. Our route takes us through the Enns Valley before we inspect the landing field from above and set up for the challenging approach over a tall line of trees. A precise and stable approach is essential, while the uphill grass strip helps us come to a stop quickly. Surrounded by taildraggers and like-minded pilots, we enjoy a weekend of mountain flying, challenging landings, old friends and great stories. A change in weather brings stronger winds, heavy rain and a wet grass strip, but it cannot take away from the special atmosphere of this mountain pilots gathering. On our way home, we stop for fuel at Niederöblarn LOGO before returning to Innsbruck LOWI with unforgettable memories and a lot more experience. 🔔 Subscribe for more adventures in our 71-year-old Cessna 170 and join us for mountain flying, backcountry adventures, short-field landings, fly-ins and vintage taildragger flying across Europe. #Cessna170 #CessnaFunSeventy #Taildragger #MountainFlying #BackcountryFlying #ShortFieldLanding #GrassStrip #UphillLanding #CrosswindLanding #VFRFlying #VintageAircraft #GeneralAviation #AustrianAlps #MountainPilots #FishCreek ————- Disclaimer: This video is for entertainment purposes only and is not an instructional or training video.
