Flash Gordon is a science fiction (sci-fi) hero who was created as a comic strip in 1934 by artist Alex Raymond for King Features Syndicate, to compete with Buck Rogers, after a deal to publish a John Carter of Mars comic strip was not reached. In 1971, George Lucas wanted to film an adaptation of Flash Gordon, but could not obtain the rights, so he developed Star Wars. The comic books are presented in chronological order, and for each issue: a cover, up to four interior pages, and information about the action going on. For Issue No. 1 -- Flash awakes on a secret prison planet somewhere in the galaxy. Upon learning that Dale Arden is the subject of an assassination plot, he's forced to break out and make his way across the galaxy to save her. Along the way, he encounters old friends, new threats, and a greater mystery surrounding WHO is pulling the strings of this universe. For Issue No. 2 -- Flash Gordon is trapped on Planet Death -- a place known for fighting, fear, and eventual demise. He needs to get off-planet to save Dale from assassination, but a gauntlet of guards, creatures, and old acquaintances stands in his way. For Issue No. 3 -- Ming the Merciless has been biding his time in the shadows of Planet Death. With time came power - he now "rules" a certain section of the prison. However, when Flash gives him a chance to seek revenge on the rulers that placed him here, the pair are forced to strike an uneasy alliance in a bid for freedom! Who lives? Who dies? Will Planet Death take another prisoner for its own? For Issue No. 4 -- The escape! Flash Gordon, Ming, and Daranek battle their way through Planet Death. Each fallen enemy brings them one step closer to their goal: a ride off this dismal world. For Issue No. 5 -- The man in the metal mask: Doctor Zarkov's entire world. In a bid to extend his life, he downloaded his consciousness into a metal body. Flash's past meets present meets future in this thrilling conclusion to the first arc of the hit ongoing series! For Issue No. 6 -- After their escape from Planet Death, Flash and his ragtag group of misfits embark on a dangerous journey across the galaxy to return to their home world. Leaping from planet to planet, they refuel, resupply, and...run into the harsh grip of a new regime. For Issue No. 7 -- Another planet, another foe, and a blast from Flash's past. With Flash stuck in space, who's able to come and save him? The Hawkmen! For Issue No. 8 -- The fearless Flash Gordon must join forces with the fiery Princess Aura -- despite their tangled past -- to find a way into the Empress's castle. With Prince Barin and the rest of the ragtag group in tow, the motley crew comes face to face with a long-lost ally - but are they friend or foe? The past keeps catching up with Flash's present! For Issue No. 9 -- The spacefaring and action-packed adventures continue! A long-awaited reunion turns into a deadly trap as someone from Flash's past reveals their true intent! Can ANYONE be trusted? For Issue No. 10 -- The taking of Mingo City! Empress Arden's true origins are revealed -- and the real Dale discovered! But Flash and his allies are surrounded on all sides, with the armies of the Merciless Ming approaching hard and the Empress's forces hunting the rebels like dogs.
