Jeremy analyzes disturbing evidence: the case of 11-year-old Billy Balinski, whose leg was savagely mauled while playing in shallow water. A man who required 60 stitches to close a wound on his foot caused by an unseen predator. After ruling out prehistoric whales and giant sturgeon, Jeremy sets his sights on the alpha predator of these waters: the muskie (Muskellunge), nicknamed the "Water Wolf." This oversized pike is known for its intelligence, ferocity, and dagger-sharp teeth. Catching muskies becomes a true obsession, driving Wade to the brink of madness. Over 13,000 nonstop casts are made to lure a fish that seems to vanish into thin air. A battle against sudden storms and "muskie fever" that keeps him awake at night. A dangerous accident results in Jeremy getting a hook stuck in his arm. In a last-ditch effort, Jeremy heads to Spirit Rock, a sacred site for local tribes. Only after a ritual offering of tobacco does his luck seem to change.
