Why is engineering biology so important? - with NPL
Engineering biology is helping us to transform the building blocks of life itself. Find out how NPL are writing DNA from scratch. This is part of our series of videos with the National Physical Laboratory, exploring their important work. As a public sector research establishment, we deliver extraordinary impact by providing the measurement capability that underpins the UK's prosperity and quality of life. We develop the metrology required to ensure the timely and successful deployment of new technologies and work with organisations as they develop and test new products and processes. -- Max Ryadnov leads Biometrology research area at NPL. He is also a visiting Professor at King’s College London and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and the Royal Society of Biology. Max obtained his MSc in Biochemistry (summa cum laude) from the Russian Academy of Sciences and PhD in Chemistry from Moscow State University. Following his academic tenures at Bristol (URF) and Leicester (Lecturer), he joined NPL as a Principal Research Scientist in 2010. -- The Ri is on Twitter: / ri_science and Facebook: / royalinstitution and TikTok: / ri_science Listen to the Ri podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/sh...
