Orchid Watering Day: Fertilizing, Pests, and Spring Blooms

Join me for my spring orchid watering routine as I prepare my collection for the warmer months. I walk through my process of soaking my mounted orchids, flushing the pots with plain water, waiting 20 minutes then mixing my customized fertilizer blend. I am using a balanced SuperThrive fertilizer, Cal-Max, a seaweed extract, and a chelating agent to give my plants exactly what they need right now. I also give a tour of what is currently blooming and talk about what is growing on my back patio. I feature my rose-scented Phalaenopsis violacea 'Gulfstream Blue', a vibrant Cattleya Tokyo Magic cross, and new growth on my Bulbophyllums and Dendrobium kingianum. I also deal with a tiny snail hiding in the sphagnum moss of one of my mounted miniatures. Since it is the May long weekend here in Victoria, it is the perfect time to start transitioning my tropical plants outside for the summer. #OrchidCare #OrchidWatering #Phalaenopsis #Cattleya #Dendrobium #Bulbophyllum #SpringGarden
