During the Formula 2 race, on the Eau Rouge/Raidillon climb, a high-speed sequence of events changed everything in a fraction of a second. French driver Anthoine Hubert, of the BWT Arden team, was involved in an initial incident while trying to avoid a slow-moving car after a collision between other competitors. The impact with the wall was violent, and upon rejoining the track, he was hit laterally, almost head-on, by Juan Manuel Correa's car, which was traveling at over 250 km/h. The force of the collision was devastating. Hubert succumbed to his injuries and died shortly afterward, while Correa suffered serious leg injuries and spent months recovering. Journalist Julianne Cerasoli, who was at the circuit that day, can uniquely describe the atmosphere in the paddock: the silent shock that gripped mechanics, engineers, drivers, and journalists, all trying to understand how such a promising race had turned into a scene of pain and disbelief. The accident served as a stark reminder of the risks of motorsports, even in an era of significant advances in safety.
