This time, I walked through the shopping streets in the Minamishimizusawa and Seiryo-cho districts of Yubari City, Hokkaido, Japan. The first is the Minamishimizusawa district. A shopping street is formed on the road next to National Route 452. Unfortunately, it seems that there are few shops that are open. Two years ago, a complex facility combining the Yubari City Hall Shimizusawa branch and a library was built here, and it seems that it has become a place for people from the neighborhood to gather. There used to be Minami-Shimizusawa Station, but after the line was discontinued, the station building has become a soba restaurant. There are supermarkets along the national highway, and new housing complexes and residential areas are also built, so you can see the "new Yubari". There is a junior high school and a high school, and I thought this would be the center of Yubari City. I hope that the number of renovated shops will increase in this shopping street and that the bustle will return. From 27:16, it will be in the Seiryo-cho district. This is on the opposite bank of Minamishimizusawa across the Yubari River. In contrast to Minamishimizusawa, many of the housing complex buildings remain here, but most of them are in ruins. There are only a few shops, but the sweets shop that is popular for taiyaki was open. There is also a public bath. Since the elementary school is on this side, it may be that the housing complex will be dismantled and a new town will be built along with the development of Minamishimizusawa.
