Film date: 1924 – 1927 These snippets of Chinese martial art footage were part of film footage shot by Sidney D. Gamble. Between 1924-1927, Sidney D. Gamble made three trips to Miao Feng Shan (Marvellous Peak Mountain), the site of a Daoist temple that was located on a hill about 25 miles northwest of Beijing. Pilgrimages usually took place in spring. The journey was difficult and took three days. Both organized groups and individuals undertook these pilgrimages. On one of the journeys that Gamble accompanied the pilgrims, he recorded their activities on film. Upon his return to America, he edited the footage shot into a short 16mm documentary. The martial art footage comes from this documentary. This upload of these Weapon forms film snippets includes, slow-motion takes.
