Do Kubotans and Tactical Pens Actually Work?

There is a lot of crap out there in the self defense world, including quick fix gadgets and promises of shortcuts to training. The kubotan, self defense key chain, yawara, tactical pen, or flashlight for that matter are often among them. The kubotan is not magical. Its a force multiplier. If you don't train, do the math: anything times zero is zero. It will not somehow make the difference. But if you do train, and you have something reliable in your hand and you've trained in its use, the kubotan can be a nasty force multiplier.
