【#28】最後の幕臣→明治最良の官僚〜榎本武揚の経歴とゆかりの地をたどる〜
Earned a Master's Degree in Historical Studies! A Serious History Buff Who Loves the Bakumatsu to Meiji Periods: A Thorough Explanation and Guide This is the first time we've looked at a figure from the late Edo period in a while, so we'll introduce the life of Enomoto Takeaki and the places associated with him in Tokyo! As captain of the Kaiyo Maru, he fought on the side of the former shogunate forces from the sea during the Boshin War, making him the "last shogunate retainer." He became president of the Ezo Republic in Hakodate, but was forced to surrender due to a fierce attack by the new government forces. However, after more than three years of imprisonment and house arrest, he served in a succession of key positions in the Meiji government, and was known as "the greatest bureaucrat of the Meiji era." He possessed a talent that was recognized even by rival generals like Kuroda Kiyotaka, as well as cutting-edge knowledge he acquired at the Nagasaki Naval Training School and during his studies in the Netherlands, which were too precious to lose. =========================== Places featured in this video: Historical Walk ◆ Statue of Enomoto Takeaki (in Umewaka Park) https://visit-sumida.jp/spot/6028/ ◆ Former Residence of Enomoto Takeaki Near 5-13-11 Mukojima, Sumida-ku, Tokyo ◆ Monument to the Cherry Blossoms of the Sumida River (Seal inscription of Enomoto Takeaki) https://visit-sumida.jp/spot/6012/ ◆ Hogenji Temple (Grave of the Enomoto Clan) http://asakusa-kotobuki.com/pow erspots/hogenji.html ◆Birthplace of Enomoto Takeaki Yanagawa Yokocho, Okachimachi, Shitaya, Edo (currently near Taito 2-chome, Taito Ward, Tokyo) ◆Kichijoji (Takeaki Enomoto's Grave) 3-19-14 Honkomagome, Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo ◆Hokushinsha Ranch Monument (Remains of the ranch operated by Enomoto Takeaki) Near Iidabashi 1-5, Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo ============================ Related Videos ※About the turmoil of the late Edo period [#2] The fierce battle of the Shogitai, the "Ueno War," took place in a place associated with Eiichi Shibusawa! ~Ueno Park, Kan'ei-ji Temple, and Yanaka Cemetery~ • 【#2】彰義隊の激戦「上野戦争」の舞台は渋沢栄一ゆかりの地だった!?〜上野公園・寛永...
