How You Notice Hearing Loss – Until It's Too Late Working as a musician & sound engineer, I thought that working with sound every day meant I would instantly notice if my hearing started to fade. I was wrong. IIn this video I share the situations that slowly made me understand that something wasn’t right – moments in everyday life and at work that at first seemed normal, but later turned into clear warning signs. If you work with music or sound, this video might change the way you think about your own hearing. ⚠️ Warning signs of hearing loss • Stop hearing certain sounds you know should be there • Often say “What?” in conversations • Struggle to understand speech in noisy rooms or big spaces • Think everyone else is mumbling • Turn up the TV louder than before • Get unusually tired or stressed after social situations • Speak louder than others • Have tinnitus • Start avoiding social situations because listening is exhausting These are not personality traits – they are signs of hearing loss. 🧠 Why you don’t notice it Your brain is constantly adapting through neuroplasticity. It compensates so fast that your hearing can change without you even realising it. That’s why hearing loss often goes unnoticed for years – even for sound engineers. 🩺 What you should do 👉 Book a hearing test. Especially if you’re over 50. Hearing fades naturally with age – and there is no shame in using hearing aids.
