The car that practically single-handedly put the compact SUV class on the map has been updated! Allard Kalff travels to Greece to test drive the new Renault CAPTUR. What changes do you make to a car that's still among the leaders in its class? Allard investigates. With 1.5 million units sold, the Renault CAPTUR has become the best-selling compact SUV in its class. The all-new generation has reinvented itself and looks more athletic and dynamic. Furthermore, the CAPTUR is as versatile as ever, while the interior has undergone a revolution in technology and quality. Many features are normally found only in more expensive models. The new CAPTUR will be available from the start of sales with a choice of three engine variants, starting with the TCe 100. This petrol engine delivers 74 kW (101 hp) and is always paired with a five-speed manual transmission. In addition, the TCe 100 engine will also be available in early 2020 as a Bi-Fuel variant that runs on both LPG and petrol. For more power and refinement, there is the TCe 130 GPF with an output of 96 kW (131 hp). This petrol engine can be combined with a manual or EDC automatic transmission. The third engine variant is the TCe 155 EDC GPF. With an output of 133 kW (154 hp), this is the most powerful model in the range and comes standard with an EDC automatic transmission. In spring 2020, the CAPTUR – the first Renault model – will be available with the new E-TECH plug-in hybrid powertrain. The Renault CAPTUR starts at €22,090, which includes the CAPTUR TCe 100 in the Life trim. Standard equipment includes Active Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist and Safe Distance Warning, LED Pure Vision headlights, cruise control, a light sensor, and electrically adjustable and heated exterior mirrors. Following the Life trim is the Zen trim. This trim includes the EASY LINK multimedia system with a 7-inch touchscreen, 17-inch designer wheels, manual air conditioning, and chrome accents inside and out. The Intens trim level comes standard with the characteristic C-shaped LED daytime running lights and features such as electronically controlled air conditioning, a Renault hands-free card, rear parking sensors, and power-folding exterior mirrors. MULTI-SENSE is also standard, allowing you to customize the driving experience. Following the Intens is the Edition One. This extra-attractive trim level features integrated navigation, including three years of free TomTom® Traffic and Map Update Service, and a larger 9.3-inch touchscreen. Furthermore, the Edition One boasts a sportier look thanks to aluminum roof rails and 18-inch "Pasadena" wheels. The interior also features the Bose® DAB+ premium audio system and a wireless phone charger. Finally, the CAPTUR INITIALE PARIS offers an extra touch of luxury and refinement. Standard equipment includes cowhide leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel and front seats, automatic parking assistance, Around View Monitor, specific 18-inch "Initial Paris" wheels, and Adaptive Cruise Control. The new Renault CAPTUR is available from €22,090.
