Pontechianale uno dei borghi più belli d'Italia

Hello today we take you to Pontechianale in Piedmont in the province of Cuneo. Since 1942, a dam has risen in its territory in the hamlet of Castello which allows the formation of a lake, a place very popular with tourists in the summer. To allow for the construction of the dam in the 1940s, the hamlet of the church that once stood where the lake is now was evacuated and submerged, so this hamlet was rebuilt in another location in the same municipality. In the low season the remains of the houses on the bottom of the lake are visible. Pontechianale is the highest village in the Val Varaita and borders on French territory. In the ancient parish church in the Maddalena hamlet there are 4 paintings that portray the evangelists, the subjects show strange anomalies, the hands and feet in fact have 6 fingers, it may be a mistake by the painters or be linked to the superstition and legends that people with an extra finger they were considered an emanation of evil and for this reason they were expelled from the community. In Pontechianale there is a chairlift that takes you to the Helios refuge from where walks start, including a very simple one lasting about 30 minutes that leads to the Belvedere. The Chianale hamlet is nicknamed the stone village and is part of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
