My recommendation would be a Bach 6.5 AL or 5G, and a 3G for the bass trombone for the first year and a half or so, and then a 1.5 if you feel the need for it. At the same time, it's important to keep in mind that a wind band is not an orchestra, and if you're playing a so-called third trombone that isn't a bass trombone like the required pieces, a mouthpiece that's too big can make it difficult for the trombone section to work together.
