This Thursday, May 28th, ESSEC Tuesdays are pleased to welcome Anne L'Huillier, Nobel Prize winner in Physics. Anne L'Huillier is one of those scientists who have succeeded in making the invisible visible. A specialist in ultrafast lasers, she has dedicated her career to observing the movement of electrons at an unimaginable speed, on the order of an attosecond, or one billionth of a billionth of a second. Behind this highly technical research lies a major revolution: understanding matter at its most fundamental scale and paving the way for significant advances in medicine, electronics, and the technologies of tomorrow. Awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics, Anne L'Huillier has established herself as one of the leading figures in contemporary physics. A professor at Lund University, she embodies a demanding science that is deeply committed to innovation and international cooperation. Her career, marked by patience, curiosity, and rigor, inspires a whole generation of young researchers today, particularly young women who are still underrepresented in science. During this discussion, we will revisit her discovery and scientific journey before addressing the place of women in science, as well as the role of Nobel Prizes and international scientific collaborations. LCP continues its partnership with the student association "Les Mardis de l'ESSEC" (ESSEC Tuesdays), aiming to broaden the audience for these invigorating debates at the heart of current political, economic, and social issues, led by the oldest student forum in France. Since 1961, Les Mardis de l'ESSEC has organized free debates and conferences open to all, featuring prominent political, economic, and cultural figures, in front of an audience composed primarily of students. Guests are free to speak, but their ideas are systematically challenged, the goal being to give everyone the opportunity to form an informed opinion and critical thought. For each of these evenings, two students present a comprehensive profile of the guest, followed by an hour-long debate. The guest then answers questions posed by two students, focusing on current events. Finally, the audience has the opportunity to ask questions of the guest.
