Vivaldi - le quattro stagioni

In this video, we'll talk about Vivaldi, the Four Seasons, but also about Venice, early 18th-century opera, and Baroque music in general. In the early 18th century, a whole movement of program music, that is, descriptive music directly inspired by a concrete image, spread in France. This descriptive style, typical of the late French Baroque, also spread to Italy and influenced Vivaldi. It formed the basis of his famous opus 8: Il Cimento dell'armonia e dell'inventione, which contains 12 violin concertos. The first four have gone down in history, and today everyone calls them the Four Seasons. We'll listen to and analyze them together.
