The last major engine designed by Carlo Abarth was the Autobianchi A112 Abarth. It was the first utility vehicle to incorporate a transverse engine and gearbox platform. The A112 was sold between 1969 and 1986 in seven different series, the last three being the best known. With a 1050 cc engine and 70 hp, it offered very good performance. It had a very sporty handling and excellent sporty finishes. It was sold in red, with a black hood and a built-in air vent.
