'I'M AN ANIMAL!' | Bare-knuckle boxer Connor Tierney reveals truth of sport ahead of historic fight

Ahead of the 'the biggest fight in bare-knuckle history', one Birmingham fighter shared the 'brutal' reality of the rising sport. On Saturday (May 30), Connor Tierney will fight for the interim BKFC welterweight championship versus Rico Franco at Utilita Arena Birmingham. His opponent is one of his rare losses, having previously been stopped in under a minute. "We're seven years on from my loss in 2017. I'm a different calibre, a different fighter, a different animal. I'm a fully-grown mature man going into this fight," said Tierney. It's not a fight about revenge for the Weoley Castle warrior, it's a fight about cementing a legacy. Fighting in a sport which removes protection, Tierney, 31, spoke to BirminghamLive about the injuries accumulated over his seven-year career.
