Jastrzębie-Zdrój. Silesia. Poland. Construction of the Moszczenica mine began in 1955, and operations began in 1965. Mining ceased in 2000. By the time of its decommissioning, the Moszczenica mine, and later the Moszczenica section, had produced a total of nearly 92,000,000 tons of coal and excavated over 1,000 km of workings. The official grand opening of the Moszczenica mine took place on December 4, 1965. The mine was incorporated into the Jas-Mos mine as the Moszczenica Section.
